This western hat was usually a Stetson hat, but it was always a Cowboy hat with a high crown and a wide brim.

It was originally created for Buffalo Bill Cody, who wanted a larger-than-life Cowboy hat for his Wild West Show. And contrary to the name, the hat could not hold 10-gallons of anything.
